This page is dedicated to dairy free desserts, and will offer tips and recipes to help demonstrate that those people who suffer from dairy intolerance have unlimited dessert options, too. I won’t limit this page to ultra healthy cardboard options, either. I plan to offer nutritious options, but just because you suffer from dairy intolerance doesn’t mean you have to avoid super rich deluxe items. Without further ado, here is my first dairy free dessert pick:

Top Pick Dairy Free Desserts Categories: Chocolate

dairy free dessertsDairy free chocolate desserts are most sought after in my option. At least, I know I searched endlessly. I will tell you about my initial chocolate discoveries, and then offer some tips for do-it-yourself dairy free desserts.

5 years ago I went to every store in my town looking for options. The sad truth is that most people have found themselves in a grocery store with no dairy free desserts at all beyond a Popsicle. This is what i first discovered while I was living in northern Canada. I definitely didn’t need a Popsicle, in fact, on that Winter afternoon those Popsicles felt like family not food. What I ended up doing in my die-hard pursuit if dairy free chocolate desserts was to pick up some soy milk, cocoa, and brown sugar. Yep I had hot cocoa from scratch.

Some Items I have make or found since:

  • apple pie from scratch
  • dairy free ice cream
  • DF chocolate, blueberry muffins
  • cinnamon rolls
  • DF chocolate bars like GOMAXGO
  • Some kosher parve items
  • In-house vegan shoppe desserts

Drop me a line if you would like a tip on how to find anything, or for ideas for converting traditional recipes into dairy free desserts. For me cutting out chocolate and ice cream was a very unpleasant shock. I hope I can stop even one of you from being deprived of awesome sweet tooth satisfaction because you are vegan or suffer from dairy intolerance.

I found Kinnikinnick chocolate covered donuts a year or two after that. Around that time I discovered a recipe for brownies, too. That will be one of a half dozen recipes I will post on this page over the next 6 weeks. First a brownie recipe (and  the lazy-persons version of that, the all in one kit). After that I will tackle homemade dairy free chocolates. In the meantime, take a look at my dairy free protein powder smoothies post, as well as my vegan cream cheese article. The are pretty tasty recipes, even if they are not strictly post-meal dairy free desserts.
